Job Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled Mainframe Developer with 4+ years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Mainframe programming and development, with hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. As a Mainframe Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining critical Mainframe applications, ensuring they meet business requirements and perform optimally.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM to meet business requirements. System Analysis: Work with business analysts to understand project requirements, system specifications, and business needs, and translate them into technical solutions. Code Implementation: Write efficient, maintainable, and optimized code for batch jobs, online transaction processing (OLTP), and other system processes. Testing and Debugging: Conduct unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure that applications run effectively and efficiently. System Integration: Integrate Mainframe applications with other systems and platforms as necessary, ensuring smooth data flow and system interoperability. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide production support for Mainframe applications, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime. Documentation: Maintain clear and concise technical documentation for code, processes, and system configurations. Continuous Improvement: Participate in code reviews, follow best practices, and contribute to ongoing improvements in system design and development processes. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including other developers, testers, and project managers, to deliver quality solutions on time. Mainframe Modernization: Contribute to initiatives that aim to modernize and optimize legacy Mainframe systems, including integrating new tools or methodologies. Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in Mainframe development, with expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. Programming Skills: Strong experience in COBOL programming, including creating and maintaining batch and online applications. Database Skills: Proficiency in using DB2 for database management and SQL queries. Mainframe Tools: Familiarity with TSO/ISPF, JCL, and debugging tools such as Abend-AID or other error diagnostics tools. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Version Control: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Endevor, Git) to manage code changes. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with business analysts, project managers, and other team members. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Skills:
Mainframe Modernization: Experience with modernizing Mainframe applications, transitioning to cloud environments, or integrating with newer technologies. Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile development environment. Performance Optimization: Experience in performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe systems. Automated Testing: Familiarity with automated testing tools and continuous integration (CI) processes in the Mainframe environment.
