A company is looking for a
Chief Code Officer (Regulatory & Economic Resources). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, General Construction, or related field. A minimum of five years of building code inspection or plans review experience, including four years of construction and supervisory experience. Additional experience in building code inspection or plans review, and/or professional, technical, or managerial experience as a code official may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a State of Florida Inspector, Plans Examiner, or Building Code Administrator License. Must possess a minimum of five years of experience with a State of Florida Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Miami-Dade County or State of Florida General, Roofing, Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing Contractor License after licensure. Recruitment Notes The duties of the position include providing oversight to the operational activities of the Code Coordination Section – Trades Unit. Assist with the development of action plans to address identified building code regulation deficiencies and implement procedures to promote and ensure that the building code is effectively applied countywide. It entails managing and planning the Code Coordination Section – Trades Unit’s allocation of technical and supervisory assistance to the 35 municipal building departments consisting of over 530 certified code officials holding over 1900 certifications among all trades. Provide technical staffing to the Board of Rules and Appeals, the Construction Trades Qualifying Board, and the Unsafe Structures Board and their committees and subcommittees. Additionally, manage codification and writing amendments to the Florida Building Code and coordination of Unit-assigned code modifications. The Chief must also provide direct oversight and participate in the codification process involving the Florida Building Code, Declaratory Statements, and building code-related ordinance modifications of the Code of Miami-Dade County.
