WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH As a Material Director in the Global Apparel Materials Organization, you will partner with Design and Product teams to define, create and deliver seasonal materials that meet the needs of the consumer and deliver solutions for the athlete. You will manage a team of textile and trim developers who are responsible for creating best in class textiles, prints and trims for the Basketball consumer. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a passionate materials leader who has a deep Apparel product creation background with strong leadership skills. Critical Strengths include but are not limited to technical materials knowledge, strategy deployment, problem solving abilities, team leadership, relationship building, project management skills, critical thinking, and creativity. As a leader, you will motivate the team, celebrate wins, and cultivate a climate that encourages an open collaborative mentality through equity, inclusion and diversity. Bachelor's Degree in Textile Science, Apparel Engineering, or Apparel Management Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training A minimum of 10 years directly relevant experience A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing direct reports or a team Experience in material development, product development or design with preference for material and trend experience Comprehensive understanding of garment construction and textile science Exceptional application of development skills including high level concept development and be creative and technical Strong understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as project/change management, idea creation, employee development, coaching and cross-team effectiveness - lead and inspire Team player attitude; solid, positive energy; confident Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism Experience managing multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines Experience communicating and collaborating with global partners Consumer knowledge/insight Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel up to 20% of the time WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON You will be accountable for driving the overall materials vision from ideation through commercialization and providing a pulse on the industry direction in materials. You'll elevate the consumer experience by creating materials that push the limits of technology. You'll bring to life the seasonal category creative direction through seasonal materials that are trend relevant to the Basketball consumer. You'll create opportunities for team development, make hiring decisions, and drive performance management, recognition and rewards. You'll develop a team structure that facilitates and maximizes individual and team performance. You'll develop strong consumer-oriented points of view and lead the materials team in executing the vision in seasonal product launches. You'll oversee execution of all material development. You'll maintain healthy cross-functional relationships and build relationships outside of your immediate team. Additionally, you'll need to demonstrate curiosity and a passion for materials.
