Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they're well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
This position will be part of the Facilities (FX) and Ground Support Equipment (GSE-GX) maintenance and engineering management team. This position will have primary focus supporting United GSE, managing fleet design, specifications that enables United to provide safe and dependable GSE and supporting facilities equipment in accordance with business requirements, cost savings initiatives, total cost of ownership, mission requirements, aircraft effectivity, station modeling methodologies, equipment capabilities, environmental, federal and local governance requirements. Leads team for the management of maintenance and engineering programs for GSE equipment acquisition, deployment, operational support, and ongoing oversight of maintenance programs for 70+ GSE fleet types Collaborates with internal and external partners to handle initiatives and investment to provide and maintain GSE fleet and supporting facilities for United operations system-wide Leads engineering team to ensure engineering integrity of new and existing GSE equipment for safe, dependable, and cost-effective operations Works with business and manufactures to develop technical specifications for GSE asset investment and modification Manages design and implementation of equipment modification projects to address safety, regulatory, reliability, and performance issues for GSE or facilities equipment Leads engineering team to ensure technical parameters of preventative maintenance programs are accordance with manufacture and industry best practices for GSE equipment Focuses on preventive maintenance that will maximize planned maintenance, reduce unplanned maintenance, and improve in service time for the GSE fleet Works with team to monitor maintenance trends advise on maintenance strategy, systems, and infrastructure to support proactive and predictive maintenance for GSE and facility equipment Consults on GSE maintenance reliability and warranty programs Monitors operational data, trends, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective actions to ensure the effectiveness of the maintenance programs Guides development of technical engineering, maintenance, safety program management systems; systems training curriculum development; and life cycle management analysis. What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Associate degree or 2 years of relevant work experience Automotive maintenance and repair, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering or 4 years relevant work experience 4+ years of experience overseeing automotive/fleet maintenance, facilities maintenance. Project management and/or engineering and technical management. 4+ years of experience leading critical initiatives and/or process improvement projects/programs Experience leading teams in multiple locations Planning and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational management, defining accountability, identifying improvement opportunities Ability to build internal and external business relationships, strong vendor management skills Ability to lead product quality and performance of multiple vendors Ability to translate technical requirements for business groups Experience in data visualization/story-telling Advanced skills with productivity and collaboration tools including MS Office Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Teams etc Accountable for consistent and clear communication to team, leadership, and collaborators Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience Electrical engineering, industrial controls, digital technology, business, or finance Certifications: ASE, Electrical, or HVAC/EPA Section 608 5+ years of experience with airline ground service equipment and/or facilities operations 5+ experience in an airline operations environment involving asset planning and management Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and building management systems 2+ years digital technology architecture, networking, security, or applications development Current leader of maintenance organization supporting airline hub operations Experience leading matrixed operations, in airport/aviation setting
