We are seeking a highly skilled L3 Storage and Backup Support Engineer with extensive experience in storage and backup management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supporting storage and backup infrastructure across our environment. The role involves advanced troubleshooting, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of storage and backup systems, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and efficient data protection.
Storage Track Responsibilities
Storage Monitoring & Alert Configuration - Monitor storage systems (Pure Storage, NetApp, EMC Unity) for performance, health, and capacity. Configure alerts for proactive issue detection and escalation to prevent downtime. Storage Allocation & Reclamation - Perform storage allocation based on project requirements, ensuring optimal utilization. Conduct storage reclamation to free up unused resources and improve storage efficiency. LUN Management (Replication, Addition) - Configure and manage LUN replication for data redundancy and availability. Add new LUNs to protection groups as per business requirements. SAN Management - Manage SAN infrastructure, including zoning configuration and removal on CISCO switches. Conduct process follow-ups and recommend improvements for efficient SAN operations. Reporting & Performance Analysis - Generate and analyze reports on storage performance metrics to identify optimization opportunities. Perform detailed performance analysis and resolve storage-related performance issues. Replication Status & Management - Monitor replication activities to ensure accurate data synchronization across storage arrays. Code Upgrades - Conduct firmware and software code upgrades to ensure storage systems are secure and up-to-date. Advanced Troubleshooting (Hardware & Software) - Perform complex troubleshooting for storage issues, addressing both hardware and software problems. Resolve user-reported and performance-related storage issues promptly. Vendor Coordination - Liaise with vendors for maintenance support, troubleshooting assistance, and hardware replacement. Backup Track Responsibilities
Backup Management & Restore Approach - Oversee backup processes using Cohesity and Rubrik, managing different backup types (File-level, Block-level, VM, DB, NAS, SAN). Implement and monitor effective restore approaches to ensure data recovery. De-duplication & Event Monitoring - Manage de-duplication concepts to optimize storage space within backup environments. Handle backup-related event monitoring and ensure timely response to issues. Agent Installation & Maintenance - Install, configure, and troubleshoot backup agents on multiple platforms. Support agent deployment and handle agent-related performance issues. Reboot & Migration Process - Execute reboot processes for media agents and CommServe to ensure system health. Handle migration tasks for CommServe and media agents as per requirements. Disaster Recovery - Design and maintain disaster recovery procedures to secure data availability in case of emergencies. Perform regular tests of disaster recovery setups to ensure operational readiness. Vendor Communication - Coordinate with backup software vendors for support, patching, and troubleshooting. Disk and Tape Library Configuration - Configure and manage disk and tape libraries, ensuring efficient archival and retrieval processes. Troubleshooting Backup Failures - Troubleshoot backup failures, focusing on cluster-related and system-level issues to maintain data integrity. Resolve issues affecting the performance of backup clusters, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in Pure Storage, NetApp, EMC Unity, Cohesity, and Rubrik. Storage & SAN Management: Solid experience in storage allocation, LUN management, and SAN operations. Backup Technologies: Proficiency in backup types (file-level, block-level, VM, DB, NAS, SAN) and restore processes. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Extensive experience in performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and alert configuration. Disaster Recovery & De-duplication: In-depth understanding of disaster recovery principles and de-duplication concepts.
