Admissions Coordinator POSITION DETAILS Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Reporting to the Associate Director of Recruitment, the Admissions Coordinator will support the day-to-day activities of the Admissions and Recruitment units within the department of Admissions. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with recruitment and registration of students; Assist with the reviewing and processing of student applications; Attend on and off campus recruitment events at high schools, CBO and other institutions, including Open Houses and community events; Coordinate the application process via CUNYfirst, which includes data entry of new admissions applications info CUNYfirst; Update data in CUNYfirst, and assist in the maintenance of freshman and transfer student files; Compile and provide recruitment reports for each activity conducted; Serve as a resource to students at workshops, advisement and registration; and provide tours and information sessions; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students and the public. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and experience working in higher education; Specialization in computerized access databases; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Experience with PeopleSoft (CUNYfirst); Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Bilingual; CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices. Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students. Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed. Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large. Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials. Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed. Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy. Performs related duties as assigned. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS $44,411 - $49,960. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
