Walmart Global Tech is looking to hire an exceptionally talented

Senior Data Scientist

for their Personalization team in Sunnyvale to support the

Personalization and Recommendation development efforts

with our eCommerce team.

As a

Senior Data Scientist

for our team, you'll leverage your expertise in

machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning

to create large-scale, personalized recommendation models for our omni-channel retail platform, with a focus on exploring and implementing cutting-edge technologies like

Large Language Models (LLM's) . This role taps into the forefront of AI, offering the opportunity to innovate and shape the future of

retail personalization .

About Team:

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at

Walmart.com , through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

Leverage machine learning technologies such as

Java, Python, Pyspark, Tensorflow, and PyTorch

to design, develop, and implement high-performance, scalable applications for personalized recommendations.

Create robust machine learning models using structured and unstructured data sets and advanced algorithms, including

Neural Networks, Regression Models, and Gradient Boosting Algorithms .

Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to design and implement data pipelines and architectures that support recommendations at scale.

Work with stakeholders across the company to understand business needs and develop data-driven solutions that drive insights and automation.

Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations.

Stay up to date with the latest developments in machine learning and apply this knowledge to improve our products and processes.

What you'll bring:

Master's degree/PHD in Data science, Computer Science

or related fields with

3-5 years of practical experience

Expertise in

Machine Learning, Statistics, Personalization and Item Recommendation algorithms

Experience in data science and building and evaluating

large scale machine learning & deep learning models

Experience in

designing and deploying highly scalable Recommenders Systems for e-commerce

Curiosity in state-of-the-art techniques in recommendation related areas

Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions

Outstanding communication, leadership, and written skills

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Data science, machine learning, optimization models, Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.

Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch).
