Department Summary
Infrastructure Services provides flexible, reliable, and secure traditional and cloud infrastructure services (network services, platform services, data center operations and management, and unified communications) enabling connectivity, productivity, and security for UCLA. Infrastructure services strives to optimize performance increasing storage, elevating the network, and reducing downtime. Field Operations is responsible for the installation, service and repair of UCLA’s voice and network cabling infrastructure including life safety ERS (emergency response systems), bruin card readers and emergency elevator lines across campus to ensure that IT meets both the current and future network service needs of a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders across the university. Field Operations supports UCLA’s telecommunication networks, including internet telephone cable and on-site services and repairs. Field Operations conducts the wiring on campus to ensure efficacy and safety. This team installs, configures, upgrades, and supports wiring for campus (e.g., patching and testing fiber circuits for production level use, installing new fiber and network wiring for new classrooms/buildings, upgrading old/exposed cables, etc.). The team is responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of network hardware, WAP (wireless access points), Cisco voice gateways and all peripheral physical communication equipment.
Position Summary
The Senior Inventory Control Technician will be responsible for overseeing the inventory management of infrastructure components for the infrastructure team. This role entails maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of equipment, tracking inventory levels, coordinating with vendors, and implementing efficient inventory management processes. Additionally, the Senior Inventory Control Technician will be tasked with implementing advanced inventory management strategies that enhance operational efficiency and asset optimization. The Senior Inventory Control Technician will also mentor junior technicians and drive process improvement initiatives, setting standards for inventory accuracy and operational excellence. The Senior Inventory Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the availability and optimization of infrastructure assets to support the organization's infrastructure initiatives. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.
Salary & Compensation

Qualifications
Experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, management, customer service, higher education, or a related field. (Required) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Advanced knowledge of automated inventory and purchasing practices and barcode system and inventory software programs. (Required) Ability to locate and interpret complex data as it relates to inventory control and management. Knowledge of database changes and computerized reports generation. (Required) Advanced knowledge of telecommunications equipment for proper issuance, storage, cleaning, and repair. (Required) Foundational mathematical skills and awareness of financial principles to calculate purchase order amounts and reconcile inventory. (Required) Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (Required) Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required) Strong organizational skills and is able to prioritize urgent and competing project needs. (Required) Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (Required) Able to participate in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required) Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas, including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Able to work with agility in a fast-paced environment. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in one or more of: information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training. (Preferred)

The anticipated pay range for this position is $29.42-$42.14, hourly; the salary depends upon the selected finalist's skills and experience.
