Role Overview
The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Apigee Architect – Manager role is responsible for delivery and implementation of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Apigee EDGE infrastructure and APIs. The ideal candidate would also be responsible for developing and delivering Apigee solutions to meet today’s high demand in areas such as AI/ML, IoT, advanced analytics, open source, enterprise collaboration, microservices, serverless, etc. The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Apigee Architect will work with customers, cloud partners, and other internal groups to evaluate supporting new technologies and industry specific use cases and architectures based on client needs. Key Responsibilities
Lead Apigee solution delivery engagements, along with consultants and client teams for a successful delivery of solutions. Through a formal sales process, work with the Sales team to identify and qualify Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Apigee opportunities. Lead solution and scoping to generate estimates and approaches for proposals and SOWs for customers. Conduct full technical discovery, identifying pain points, business and technical requirements, “as is” and “to be” scenarios. Assess the full technology stack of services requiring integration with Apigee including PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, operations, management and automation including existing and future planned customer infrastructure. Lead the discussions and early analysis of the cloud native concepts as it relates to Accenture’s Journey to Cloud methodology. Compare solution alternatives across both technical and business parameters which support the defined cost and service requirements. Work with Client Enterprise Architects and SMEs to develop and promote the overall future-state enterprise API architecture. Provide strong technical leadership and guidance to both customer and internal project teams. Drive implementation of Apigee in future-state architectures. Define Apigee infrastructure, API architecture & roadmaps. Lead technical architecture, Apigee EDGE deployment, and API build estimating, design, and implementation processes. Create and maintain architecture blueprints to support product and development backlog. Create sequence flows and Open API specs for developers. Provide architecture guidance to the developers throughout development sprints. Work with customers and/or internal teams to understand requirements of infrastructure components. Apply methodology, reusable assets, and previous work experience to deliver consistently high-quality work. Deliver written or oral status reports regularly. Stay educated on new and emerging technologies/patterns/methodologies and market offerings that may be of interest to our clients. Adapt to existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems. Understand the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to team goals. Use considerable judgment to define solution and seek guidance on complex problems. Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight value proposition and unique differentiators. Manage small teams of Apigee/API Architects and/or work efforts (if in an independent contributor role) at a client or within Accenture. Lead discussions and early analysis of API based, cloud native use cases transitioning these concepts from ideas to proof-of-concepts to designs to completed implementations. Lead technical architecture solutioning and scoping efforts generating estimates and approaches for scalable API implementations for customers. Manage small teams of Apigee/API Architects and developers work efforts including client, Accenture, and/or partner resources. Travel Requirements
Travel may be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 25% to 100% depending on business need and client requirements. Minimum Qualifications
8-10 years of technical solutions implementation, architecture design, evaluation, and investigation in a cloud native environment. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Apigee EDGE platform and a passion for learning new technologies. Minimum of 3 years hands-on application architecture focus where solution architect engaged with clients, systems analysts, technical resources, developers and testers to develop scalable and resilient software systems that leverage Apigee. Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years) work experience. (If Associate’s Degree, must have minimum 6 years work experience) Preferred Qualifications
Certified Apigee API Engineer. Knowledge of Apigee best practices and standards for interfaces (API/Service, Message, File, Event-driven, etc.). Knowledge of API governance processes including DevOps/CI/CD. Experience scripting cloud provisioning and management (i.e. Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.). Experience in technology consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture and integration architectural. Experience in Enterprise Integration/Middleware Solutions, API Management in building solutions and architectural frameworks. Experience in Apigee API design and development. Experience in implementing API Security and Access Control (SSL, TLS, OAuth/SAML, Web SSO, etc.). Able to create and execute API functional and performance test plans. Knowledge of developer portal setup and customization. Knowledge of build and deployment methodologies with Apigee across environments. Knowledge of Apigee component architecture and implementation configurations. Experience deploying Apigee Edge environments and configuring various components including high availability, load balancing and failover configurations. Experience supporting Apigee environments including integration with DevOps/CI/CD. Knowledge of health checks and monitoring procedures for Apigee components & APIs. Experience using Apigee API analytics including generation of custom reports and integration with external tools such as Splunk in analysis of Apigee logs to identify and resolve defects/trouble tickets.
