WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The Converse Communications function shapes the brand’s story to ultimately inform, inspire and connect our internal and external audiences. We do this by building out strategic plans, while telling engaging and impactful stories. We are curious, thoughtful and entrepreneurial. Our experience is diverse and we have the ability and openness to think and do things in new ways. We are solutions-oriented, flexible and self-driving and yet collaborative. We can think big, do the due diligence and deliver – all while thriving in a changing environment. We are looking for a Global Consumer Communications team member that can embody this spirit to create successful consumer-focused communications. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON If this is you, you’ll be working with a highly motivated team across Communications and business functions, at a Global level, while also partnering with Geography teams (Western Europe, Asia and Global Partners) to align and drive annual and seasonal planning and execution. This means you will help advance the Converse narrative through clear, consistent, breakthrough brand and product storytelling. As a Global Communications team member, you will evaluate business and brand priorities and participate in the development of long-term (seasonal and annual) planning, launch strategies, messaging and communications tools. Your efforts will support related media outreach and storytelling in support of Geography teams. Equally, you will develop press materials, FAQs, etc. with an understanding of the Geography teams’ needs and challenges. These efforts will be developed, ultimately to reach lifestyle, basketball and skateboarding related audiences. A typical week might be comprised of conceptualizing and managing detailed project plans and timelines for campaigns, initiatives and events that impact the brand at a global level. It could also include helping to share created plans and with teams in order for them to be able to execute subsequent media relations, seasonal press previews and product launch events. It may also require supporting the development of creative content that inspires and delivers innovation, while maintaining quality and consistency across all communications. It will also include strategizing for media that cover culture, sneakers, sport, fashion and lifestyle as well as partners, influencers and major moments. When needed, you will also support budgeting and reporting. The role will leverage internal resources including media relations teams, community partnerships, talent and brand management partners to bring campaigns to life. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH You will directly report to the Global Consumer Communications Director as a part of a Global Communications Team. You will engage and liaise with your Global Communications counterparts and across Converse’s other Geography specific communications teams. And since Converse operates within a matrixed structure, you will also work with teams at the product, business and brand levels. WHAT YOU BRING A minimum 6-8 years of strong media relations, corporate communications or brand marketing experience. A fundamental interest in culture and an understanding of consumer, fashion and lifestyle, sports media and influencers. Experience with a fashion, sneaker or sports brand and a point of view on the industry, key players and a perspective on where it’s headed, especially digitally. Curiosity and ability to think creatively while delivering strategically. A self-starter who instinctively and consistently creates personal and professional stretch goals and meets them. Works well with others with the ability to build trust with the team and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. Skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing and executing simultaneous projects and activities. Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change while maintaining a sense of humor. Excellent writing and editing skills. Good knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all employees and job applicants. We offer a number of accommodations to complete our interview process including screen readers, sign language interpreters, accessible and single location for in-person interviews, closed captioning, and other reasonable modifications as needed.
