Ophthalmology Physician Opportunity Near BRONX, NY The Ideal Candidate: Clinical Experience: One to three years of ophthalmology clinical experience in an outpatient setting. Diagnostic Skills: Ability to diagnose and treat the whole range of glaucoma and general eye conditions, aiming for improved patient outcomes. Competency: Demonstrate competency in diagnosis and treatment to assure high standards of patient care and safety. Patient-Centered Approach: Exhibit a patient-centered approach, fostering a positive patient experience. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills. Interest in Population Health Management: Display an interest in population health management and value-based care. Responsibilities: Comprehensive Eye Care: Diagnose and treat a wide variety of eye disorders with a concentration on glaucoma. Review patient histories, perform physical examinations, and order/interpret tests (visual field, OCT, biometry, etc.). Routine Eye Exams: Perform routine eye exams and treat eye diseases, such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma. Office-Based and Surgical Procedures: Perform office-based procedures and weekly outpatient surgical procedures, including: Laser iridotomies, capsulotomies, and selective laser trabeculoplasties. Slit lamp corneal foreign body removal, chalazia, and excisional lid biopsies. Cataract/IOL surgery (premium IOLs optional). Trabeculectomy, tube shunt, and MIGS (Hydrus, Xen, iStent, Kahook, ECP, GATT, etc.). Management Recommendations: Recommend suitable management for the patient, including preventive health recommendations and habits. Prescribe medications and formulate ongoing treatment and disease management plans. Collaboration and Relationship-Centered Care: Collaborate with primary care providers and internal and external optometrists and ophthalmologists. Provide relationship-centered care, considering both psychosocial and physical needs of the patient. Record Keeping and Communication: Collect and record patient information, maintaining complete and accurate medical records. Communicate effectively with the clinical team to ensure the total delivery of quality care. Educational Participation: Participate in medical staff educational programs and meetings. Qualifications: Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or foreign equivalent. Residency: Completion of three-year postgraduate medical training from a U.S. accredited residency program in ophthalmology. Fellowship: Completion of a surgical glaucoma fellowship, preferably one registered with AUPO-FCC. Experience: Open to both experienced (2 years or above) and newly trained providers. Certification: Board Eligible/Board Certified in Ophthalmology. License: Must possess current, unrestricted New York State license or be eligible for licensure. Registration: Must possess active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or be eligible for registration. Enrollment: Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required (Both strongly preferred). Communication Skills: Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written. Technology Comfort: Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office.
