EVENTS ASSISTANT

The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for an Events Assistant in our Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.

Responsibilities: Assists Event Supervisor and Event Coordinators rental operation by responding to inquiries, conducting facility tours, reviewing contracts, booking rentals, creating floor plans, and setting up/breaking down tables and chairs. Assists Event Supervisor and Event Coordinators with special events for the facility/park by contributing to planning, setting up/breaking down, decorating for, and assisting in the execution of special events. Ensures cleanliness of facilities during rentals and special events, and ensures that participants meet rules and regulations. Acts as receptionist which may involve answering telephones, taking messages, routing calls, providing assistance as needed, greeting the public, providing directions, and dealing with media with respect to facility/park activities. Coordinates and serves as the main point of contact for part time staff during evening and weekend rentals and special events. Maintains events calendar and scheduling for rentals, internal programming, and public events at Greer City Park. Performs general bookkeeping duties including maintaining records and files on activities and events, receiving and receipting payments, etc. Attends department meetings discussing updates and departmental changes. Assists in preparing and processing various records, evaluation forms, and reports for division. Monitors expenditures as well as revenue generated through programs and facility rentals. Oversees event happenings and acts quickly to resolve problems. Maintains Events Division's inventory for public events. Monitors facilities to ensure compliance with established standards and communicates issues to the Events Supervisor promptly. Promotes events using social media for Events Division including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as budget for events, registrations for programs, applications, and questions on programs.

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Parks and Recreation, or related field; OR One (1) year of experience in event planning, hospitality, or a related field. Must obtain basic first aid and CPR training, fire extinguisher training, AED training, and Bloodborne Pathogens training certificates.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm; additional hours on weekends for events

Salary: Minimum salary $43,150 a year; dependent on experience
