Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated multi-disciplined engineer to join its Materials Manufacturing - Fabrication Technology (MM-FT) team. This team is a diverse group of engineers and scientists working to make improvements to and resolve issues associated with Naval Nuclear Propulsion element fabrication processes.

The successful candidate for this position will lead a team of engineers and scientists who study the scientific and engineering details of current manufacturing processes in order to proactively identify vulnerabilities in the current processes, develop improvements, and resolve manufacturing issues. This position requires significant hands-on laboratory work that includes defining and conducting experiments and designing and constructing equipment and test setups. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing and experimental data to develop solutions. The engineer must be proactive with excellent verbal and written communication skills, as they will be responsible for leading the team and interfacing with many NNL internal organizations and vendors, as well as sharing results and providing recommendations to those organizations. Some minimal travel will be required.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or
Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or
EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or
SRE qualified and 6 years of experience. Preferred Skills

* Knowledge and experience in design and executing experiments

* Working knowledge and experience in statistics

* Knowledge or experience in manufacturing and inspection oversight

* Knowledge of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program element manufacturing process

* Knowledge or experience in inspection techniques (destructive and non-destructive)

* Strong interpersonal skills and can work independently or part of a team of technical professionals across multiple disciplines

* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Pay Range
$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
