The Supplier Quality Engineer’s role is to support the Purchasing, Quality assurance and R&D departments of Kawasaki. The SQE will help evaluate and select appropriate suppliers for commodities purchased by Kawasaki. The SQE will communicate technical specifications between R&D and suppliers during development stages. The SQE will work with suppliers to provide the necessary quality validation documents at each development stage.
Responsibilities of Supplier Quality Engineer may include but are not limited to:
- Evaluate suppliers’ capabilities as possible candidates for future new products.
- Review issued drawings from R&D. This will include a review for manufacturability and performance requirements.
- Recommend suppliers to be awarded business based on best fit.
- Monitor the DFM process between supplier and R&D after awarding business.
- Track the progress of supplier tooling and equipment during development stages.
- Track all performance testing requirements during development.
- Track quality validation documents during development
- Evaluate supplier capacity limitations
- Evaluate packaging designs for new products
- Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing or Agricultural/Engineering Technology from a four year college or university or equivalent work experience
or Two year Associates degree in manufacturing technology or similar technical degree or coursework or equivalent work experience - 3+ Manufacturing experience
- 1+ Quality Engineering experience or equivalent
- Design quality tests, develop the documentation, and test procedures, develop and track of quality standards
- Experienced in continuous improvement activities
- Experience with Root Cause analysis and implementing robust countermeasures
- Supplier/Customer interaction
- ISO 9001 Experience
- Quality Auditing experience
- Experience in PPAP or First Article Inspection
- Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Good communication and written skills, able to communicate with oversees suppliers and customers
