Job specification
Oversee the Emergency Room in the absence of the Director, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality care. Plan and allocate resources based on patient volume and departmental needs. Collaborate in the development and maintenance of unit standards to ensure consistent, high-quality care. Support recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and training of staff, ensuring compliance with hospital policies. Ensure staff licensure, competencies, and certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS) are up to date, while maintaining effective communication with other departments.
Candidate requirements
Diploma or associate degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN or enrolment in a BSN program preferred. Active RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility to practice in Virginia with a multi-state compact RN license. American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider certification required; ACLS, PALS, and BCLS Instructor certifications must be obtained within specified timeframes. Trauma Nursing Core Course certification required. Minimum of 2 years of management experience in an emergency room setting required.
