Boston Children's Hospital is proud to offer an outstanding opportunity for three nursing students who have a passion for pediatrics and oncology care. The Susan D. Flynn Oncology Nursing Fellowship Program was created with the intent of developing the next generation of oncology nurses. The Fellowship includes a comprehensive scope of direct care, observation and learning experiences. Students will have exposure to oncology nursing within the context of a pediatric hospital setting. They will learn about the roles and responsibilities of a pediatric oncology nurse including but not limited to:

* Policies, procedures, and, plans of care for pediatric oncology patients in the following specialties: * Hematological Malignancies * Solid Tumor * Bone Marrow Transplant * Neuro-oncology

* Patient and family education for the pediatric oncology patient * Clinical Research & Clinical Trials * Chemotherapeutic agents and supportive care * Patient and family support programs * Care coordination amongst the interdisciplinary team (Child Life Specialists, Social Work, Integrative Medicine, PT/OT, * Nutrition, Palliative Care) * Various Internal Oncology-Related Forums

As part of this learning/development experience, fellows will complete a case study/nursing rounds presentation addressing an aspect of pediatric oncology nursing. This project will be presented to oncology nurses and nursing leadership at a Fellowship closing ceremony during the last week of the program.

Program Schedule:

The program will span eight weeks from Monday June 16, 2025 - Friday August 8, 2025 at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA.

* Each fellow will work three 12 hour shifts per week working alongside a registered nurse. * Compensation: Three selected Fellows will be paid a stipend as they complete this Fellowship program.

Application Process/Requirements:

* Fellowship will be offered to three rising seniors from an accredited BSN program in the Boston area, or who reside in the Greater Boston area. * Applications must include: * Essay (roughly 500 words) addressing the following questions: What makes you interested in pediatric oncology nursing? * What are your top goals for your nursing career?
