Position Summary:
Provides primary care to patients under the supervision of a physician preceptor, following established medical protocols.

Responsibilities
* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards. * Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. * Collaborates with physician preceptor to formulate and review medical protocols. * Obtains complete medical history of the patient. * Identifies health hazards in the patient's environment as well as patient risk factors. Identifies and considers the cultural patterns, economic status, and patient resources in plan of care. * Performs appropriate physical exam as indicated. * Obtains appropriate laboratory specimens. * Analyzes objective and subjective data for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. * Assures treatment and/or plan of care is consistent with established protocols. * Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records and maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Documents all pertinent information accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner. * Refers patient to appropriate services which exceed scope of practice of the practitioner. * Provides health promotion counseling and develops patient teaching information. * Serves as a resource person for other staff personnel. May supervise clinical staff. * Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. * Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed. * Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. * Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year of experience.
Licensure Requirement:
Current DEA license. Must have and maintain certification by the American Nurse Association (ANA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) with specialty applicable to the area of responsibility - Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology, Psychiatric-Mental Health. Must meet state licensure requirements. CPR required.
