Full-time, Exempt Position Starting Pay Range: $71,822 - $77,792

Job Summary The Public Health Nurse - Maternal Child Health works with women and families using assessment and counseling skills to identify needs, provide education and connect them with community resources. This position collaborates with WIC staff to improve health and wellness of at-risk participants.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodations to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Resource Navigation and Case Management: Works closely with maternal and child health clients to provide access to available community resources. Provides care coordination, case management, assessment eligibility, education, counseling, and breastfeeding support.

Program Administration: Researches, develops, organizes, and implements protocols. Serves as a liaison to outside agencies to provide information and collaboration on maternal and child health programming, to include childhood lead poisoning prevention, immunizations and injury prevention.

Program Evaluation: Evaluates health trends and risk factors of population and participates in maternal and child health and strategic planning activities.

Other: Preforms other duties as assigned (i.e.: pandemic response)

Minimum Education Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's of Nursing required. WI ADM. Code (HFS 139.08) A bachelor's or master's degree from a program approved by the board of nursing under s. 441.01 (3), Stats. and ch. N 1 or accredited by the national professional nursing education accrediting organization. The program shall include preparation in public health nursing or community health nursing, or a public health nurse certificate issued by the department prior to December 1, 1984. Preferred public health nurse experience. Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

Licensed Registered Nurse in Wisconsin. Must maintain licensure renewal every two years. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications In order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are essential.

Working knowledge of the role of various community health care providers, social service, and advocacy agencies in the community; and ability to effectively support, assess and refer clients. Thorough knowledge of standard health assessment practices, protocols, and equipment. Thorough knowledge of public health epidemiological principles. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Proficient in Microsoft office. Ability to manage a client caseload and maintain applicable records. Ability to perform anthropometric measurements on infants, children, and adults and perform finger stick blood draw. Physical Requirements

Completion of annual respirator training and fit testing. Work Environment This position may be asked to work out of both Washington and Ozaukee County offices. This is not a remote position.
