As an Associate Technical Designer, you will seamlessly partner with the Product Development team from initial concept through fit and product adoption. Your primary responsibility will be executing the fit process to successfully translate the product design and style vision into a consistent fit and quality level through application of blocks, creating accurate specification packages, and fit session management to support overall product engineering, Initial Markup (IMU) and quality goals.
Responsibilities:
Drive product technical development information including: fit, material, specifications, and construction elements. Responsible for managing and conducting fit sessions for managed category(s), providing clear direction on necessary adjustments to achieve the desired fit, quality, and consistency across all product categories. Understand and ensure products adhere to manufacturing, construction and fit standards while maintaining consistency. Collaborate with the Product Development team to execute the fit process for all assigned products, ensuring alignment with the design vision and quality standards. Create and maintain accurate and detailed specification packages, including technical sketches, measurement charts, and construction details, to guide the production process. Maintain accurate records of all fit sessions, adjustments, and specification changes, ensuring clear communication with all relevant teams and vendors. Develop, prepare and send product specification(s) to vendors guaranteeing they will have accurate and complete information, insuring product will be confirmed on-time. Develop, approve, and track all samples for product development, pre-production, and production, while meeting approval deadlines. Apply and maintain fit blocks to ensure consistency in fit across various styles and sizes, making adjustments as needed based on design and fit goals. Ensure that all products meet the company’s quality standards by conducting thorough evaluations during the fit and production processes. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support Initial Markup (IMU) goals, ensuring that product design and technical specifications align with cost and margin objectives. Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Engineering, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in technical design, product development, or a related role in the fashion or apparel industry. Experience with apparel product development and fit processes preferred. Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and grading. Proficiency in technical design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD) including PLM and 3D software, preferably Browzwear. Knowledge of principles of fit, grading, and construction. Ability to identify fit and construction issues and develop practical solutions to achieve design and quality goals. High level of attention to detail, particularly in measurement accuracy, fit evaluation, and specification documentation. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Familiarity with garment production and manufacturing processes preferred. Knowledge of current fashion trends and market standards preferred.
