Azra Games is recapturing the childhood thrill of storytelling with your entire toy box for modern AAA gaming. We are dedicated to one genre, role-playing games, and led by veteran designer Mark Otero (Zero-to-one director of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, EA's most successful mobile game of all time, with $1.5B lifetime revenue). Azra has assembled an expert team with decades of experience building blockbuster games. Our debut release, Code named 'Project:Legends', will be Mark's ninth RPG. And his best. Overview
As a Concept Artist, you'll collaborate closely with our art and design teams to create visual concepts that shape the look and feel of our game worlds. Your work will focus on character designs, environments, and key visual assets, helping establish the artistic vision and setting the foundation for production. Experience with Photoshop is essential, and familiarity with using AI tools for ideation and inspiration will be a plus.
This is a 3-month contract to start with possibility of extension depending on workload and performance.
Responsibilities Create visually engaging concept art for characters, environments, props, and other in-game assets to establish and maintain the project's artistic vision. Collaborate with the art director, designers, and other artists to develop concepts that align with the creative goals and gameplay needs. Use Photoshop to create detailed sketches, mood boards, and refined artwork, supporting both initial ideation and the final vision. Utilize AI tools like MidJourney and Stable Diffusion to explore and generate concept variations, leveraging them as part of the creative process. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to visual storytelling, ensuring concepts are grounded in the game's narrative and style. Work within the project timeline to deliver high-quality concept art that sets a strong foundation for production. Requirements
Proven experience as a Concept Artist with a portfolio showcasing realistic and highly-detailed character, environment, and prop designs. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, with a solid understanding of digital painting, rendering, and composition techniques. Strong understanding of form, color theory, lighting, and perspective to create cohesive and dynamic designs. Familiarity with AI-driven tools like MidJourney or Stable Diffusion for concept inspiration and exploration. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. Ability to iterate on feedback and adapt concepts to meet project requirements. Pluses
Experience in world-building or environment design with a focus on cohesive, lived-in game worlds. Knowledge of other digital art tools (e.g., Illustrator, Procreate) or traditional drawing techniques. Strong storytelling skills and experience developing narrative-driven concept art. Familiarity with creating and using mood boards to guide visual direction.
