We are looking for an Applied Scientist that will develop scientific algorithms, and deploy Large Language Model (LLM) solutions to improve the customer experience. The Applied Scientist will work closely with technology and product teams to solve business and technology problems using scientific approaches to build new services that surprise and delight our customers. As an Applied Scientist at Amazon, you will apply scientific principles to support significant invention, develop code, and will be deeply involved in bringing their algorithms to production. You will also work on cross-disciplinary efforts with other scientists within Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Develop scalable efficient solutions for customers using scientifically-based methods, LLM and decision making.
  2. Help support production systems that take inputs from multiple models and make decisions in real time.
  3. Automate feedback loops for algorithms in production.
  4. Utilize Amazon systems and tools to effectively work with terabytes of data.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  2. 3+ years of building models for business application experience
  3. Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  4. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  5. Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience using Unix/Linux
  2. Experience in professional software development
