Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Phlebotomist to work onsite at our client's healthcare facility in Grand Forks, ND.





Shift: The hours are 7 scheduled shifts on and 7 scheduled shifts off. Wednesday-Wednesday hours are 5a-5:30p with the option to pick up 4-7am shifts for overtime.



Summary:


  • The Phlebotomist collects (capillary and venipuncture) blood specimens from patients of all ages, assists patients with non-blood collections and is responsible for specimen integrity through accuracy of patient identification, specimen labelling, collection steps and specimen transport. This position performs occasional point-of-care patient testing such as glucose. The phlebotomist provides exceptional customer service.


Job Description:


  • Performs patient identification and specimen labeling according to standard operating procedures.

  • Understands the phlebotomy processes and techniques in order to obtain quality blood specimens to ensure that correct decisions are made regarding specimen collection.

  • Performs, interprets, and reports point-of-care testing (e.g. glucose) and quality control.

  • Processes laboratory and patient reports according to standard operating procedure, e.g. printing, recording, distributing, faxing, filing, and retrieving.

  • Recognizes problems, takes appropriate action, documents problems and corrective action, and follows protocol to notify the Supervisor of problems in a timely manner so as not to jeopardize patient care.

  • Actively communicates throughout the shift and manages priority requests in a courteous and timely manner to ensure effective department workflow. Follows up with STAT, ASAP, and Pre-op draws to ensure turnaround times are met.

  • Performs other duties as assiged or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.ed or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.


Certification:


  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA)
