About the Job: Phlebotomist 8094 We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team in Washington DC. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing blood, labeling specimens, and managing samples, ensuring high-quality specimen collection in accordance with established healthcare standards. This full-time position features weekday hours from 8 am to 5 pm and offers a clear path to permanent employment based on performance, along with competitive compensation and benefits. Compensation: DOE Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform blood draws with both straight and butterfly needles, maintaining a high level of proficiency and patient comfort. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens precisely as specified by test orders. Ensure the accurate matching of laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Collect, store, and appropriately prepare specimens following established procedures. Record maintenance data, and decontamination processes, and update patient information accurately. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to manage and record data efficiently. Understand and adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations and participate in annual departmental training sessions. Package and transport specimens ensuring the integrity of each sample by adhering to specific protocols related to temperature and containment requirements. Provide clear and courteous explanations to patients about the specimen collection process. Attend to telephone calls professionally, providing lab results and responding to inquiries as needed. Minimum Position Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of Washington DC or other required states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to perform tasks accurately and meet high standards of quality, even under tight deadlines. Experience in handling personal and sensitive patient information with confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: More than 1 year of direct experience in phlebotomy within a complex healthcare setting. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related field. Experience working in multilingual and multicultural environments. Advanced certification in phlebotomy and blood handling. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Skills: Exceptional technique in both straight and butterfly needle insertion for venipuncture. Strong organizational and data management skills. Excellent communication skills, able to explain procedures clearly and reassure patients effectively. Detail-oriented with a critical eye on sample integrity and accuracy. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks appropriately in a dynamic environment.
