Job Summary:
Under the direction of licensed Medical Providers, the successful Medical Assistant will efficiently and effectively perform administrative and clinical duties. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include, such preparing treatment room for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning medical equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares exam rooms
- Maintain all logs and required checks
- Escort patients to exam rooms and take accurate medical history
- Measure vital signs and document all information in patient’s chart
- Assist medical provider in exam rooms and may translate English/Spanish
- Gives vaccinations, administers medication, and changes dressings
- Performs routine screening tests, such as Spirometry, EKG’s, ABI’s and allergy testing
- Ensure all related reports and labs are complete and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records
- Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and properly disposes of contaminated supplies
- Take telephone, text, email and fax messages and provide feedback and answers
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent substitute
- 2 years; combined education/experience as substitute
- CPR and first aid certification required
- Certification as a medical assistant (CCMA or RMA) preferred
Required Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with EMR, Google Sheets, Google Drive
- Able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections in a safe and effective manner
- Answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner using a multi-line phone system
