Position Summary
Aggregate Mineral Resource Group, LLC is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team at our Desert Center facilities. The Heavy Equipment Operators will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery, including haul trucks, loaders, and excavators, to support aggregate mining and processing operations. This role involves working in a fast-paced industrial environment, transporting materials, moving earth, and assisting in site maintenance.
The ideal candidates will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation, with the ability to handle various types of machinery and adapt to different working conditions. A commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members are essential to success in this position.
Responsibilities
Equipment Operation:
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment, including haul trucks, front-end loaders, and excavators, to transport materials, load/unload trucks, and move aggregate as required by daily operations.
- Material Handling: Use loaders and excavators to shuttle feed material, raw materials, and processed aggregates around both production plants. Assist in moving stockpiles, feeding crushers, and loading trucks for outbound deliveries.
- Site Maintenance: Assist in site grading, road maintenance, and general upkeep of the plant and surrounding areas. Clear debris, level ground, and perform other tasks necessary for maintaining a functional work site.
- Excavation and Earth Moving: Perform excavation and trenching tasks to support mining operations, site preparation, and other construction-related activities. Safely dig and move earth and rock while ensuring stability and proper material placement.
Monitoring and Inspections:
- Pre-Operational Inspections: Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition. Check fluid levels, brakes, tires, and other essential components. Report any maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
- Machine Monitoring: Monitor machine performance during operation, ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and making adjustments as needed to maintain efficient and safe operation.
- Maintenance Assistance: Assist in minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, such as changing filters, checking fluids, and cleaning machinery. Communicate larger maintenance needs to the maintenance team and follow through on required repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to Safety Standards: Operate all equipment in compliance with company safety protocols and OSHA/MSHA regulations. Attend safety meetings, participate in safety audits, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
- Environmental Protection: Follow environmental guidelines for dust control, erosion prevention, and proper disposal of waste materials. Take care to minimize the environmental impact of operations.
- Emergency Response: Respond quickly and appropriately to any equipment malfunctions, site hazards, or emergency situations. Assist in evacuations, equipment shutdowns, or other actions necessary to ensure the safety of personnel and the facility.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with production teams, plant operators, and supervisors to ensure the timely and efficient movement of materials. Communicate effectively with co-workers to coordinate tasks and prioritize activities.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, material movement, and hours worked. Submit daily reports on equipment condition and operational status to the Mine Operations Manager.
- Training and Development: Assist in training new equipment operators and offer guidance on safe operating practices. Share knowledge about equipment capabilities and operating procedures.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
· Heavy Equipment Operation Expertise: Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, and excavators. Knowledge of proper machine handling techniques and operational procedures.
· Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Ability to troubleshoot common issues related to hydraulic and mechanical systems.
· Safety and Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations and industry best practices for operating heavy equipment safely. Familiarity with site-specific safety protocols and the ability to identify and address potential hazards.
· Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other team members. Capable of following written and verbal instructions, as well as documenting equipment usage and maintenance activities.
· Work Ethic and Problem-Solving Ability: Must be a dependable, self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions on the job.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a mining, construction, or industrial setting.
· Education and Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Heavy equipment operator certification is preferred. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required. MSHA Part 48 (Surface New Miner training) also highly preferred.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
· Physical Activity: Regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating equipment. Must have the ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds when performing maintenance or assisting with site tasks.
· Work Environment: Work in industrial and outdoor settings with exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and heavy machinery. Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable weather conditions.
· Safety Gear: Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
· Shift Flexibility: Must be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support 24/7 facility operations.
Schedule
Hiring two individuals for one 8-12 hour day shift.
Compensation
The Heavy Equipment Operator position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
