Who are we looking for? The Hi-tech Business Unit at Mphasis is currently seeking a Systems Software Engineer. Based in Spring, TX, this position will provide opportunity to work for one of our largest client accounts.
Requirement: This position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical or computer Engineering (or an equivalent combination of experience), plus three years' experience in test engineering including bring-up, debug, and validation of components, complex circuit boards, networks, servers, and systems.
Detailed requirements:
Hardware skills and bringing up the boards on servers and related testing is high priority. Software testing and software tool for system validation is secondary skills.

Detailed requirements:
- Driving and supporting bring-up activities of new systems, including hardware assembly, visual inspection, power-up, and system validation.
- Collaborating with peers to continually evolve and improve the qualification processes to yield more efficient failure detection, prevention, and resolution.
- Supporting engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams through root cause issue analysis, evaluating proposed fixes and enhancements, conducting experiments, and communicating recommended changes
- Maintaining lab equipment and test resources to the highest standards, and improving lab organization and the efficiency of the lab environment
- Effectively coordinate requirements from multiple engineers while keeping multiple projects moving simultaneously
- Develop and documenting test plans, test results, test/lab processes/procedures, tracking of proto-hardware and ECO level, rework history, and current owner/users.
- Posting test plans, results, proto-hardware status in an efficient, organized, and organizationally accessible archive.
Hardware skills and bringing up the boards on servers and related testing is high priority. Software testing and software tool for system validation is secondary skills.
- Knowledge of board hardware and software, design and test methodologies
- Ability to read and understand complex schematics, and trace signals in PCBs using PCB design file/gerber file viewers
- Ability to drive/execute systematic, methodical board and system level debug, design of experiments, and root cause analysis
- Experience with debugging and testing voltage regulator modules and associated hardware
- Proficiency with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and power load tools
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools such as SharePoint
- The ability to understand the high-level architecture of the system, as well as, a more detailed understanding of subsystem building blocks
- An understanding of functional, integration, system and regression testing
- Familiarity with using the Linux shell, scripting languages and low level programming.
- Familiarity with standard communication protocols such as I²C, JTAG, and SPI
- Familiarity with defect tracking tools, product lifecycle management tools, and board design tools
- Experience creating test project status reports and metrics, including a Test Dashboard
- Experience researching and documenting bug reports upon discovery of a quality problem
- A successful track record of working with geographically distributed cross-functional groups
- Strong organizational, verbal and written skills
