Job DescriptionYour Career
At Palo Alto Networks, we build the world’s most advanced cybersecurity platforms. The Technical Operations team is responsible for the manufacturing capabilities to build our next-generation network firewalls. As a Hardware Test Engineer (DfT), you will be responsible for building advanced test platforms for network device manufacturing and implementation of test strategies in collaboration with our contract manufacturers and vendors, and work internally across different functional groups, from Supply Chain Operations to Product Development. You are a technical leader in your field, with a deep understanding of underlying architectures of network devices.
Your Impact
- Responsible for architecting structural test development for NPI and sustaining
- Evaluate product designs of various design complexities for test coverage and serviceability with ICT and boundary scan
- Drive DfT and test coverage analyses from early Prototype design stages with HW/SW design engineering and ensure compliance with Palo Alto Networks’ standards, and within target turnaround times on every design cycle
- Oversee, design, develop and implement ICT and boundary scan requirements (IEEE 1149.1, 1149.6 etc) for early test deployment in collaboration with CM partner’s ICT teams for NPI programs
- Spearhead flexible boundary scan chain designs, e.g. CPLD controlled subchains, boundary scan enabled DIMM modules, system level multi-PCBA boundary scan capabilities etc.
- Manage ICT support for sustaining products, including change management
- Manage the development and deployment processes with 3rd party vendors in-country and overseas, including fixture bringup, finetuning and resource availability
- Lead failure analysis, drive root cause activities and implement effective fixes for both NPI and sustaining production
- Build and scale structural test capabilities and ensure high availability
- Responsible for ensuring test capacity is sufficient for all production scenarios
- Participate in cross-functional project teams, collaborate with supply chain and HW/SW engineering
- Excellent communication skills and able to work independently
Your Experience
- 8+ years of electronics manufacturing testing experience
- Experience with electronics system design and DfT
- Experience with Boundary Scan development tools like x1149, XJTAG, Corelis
- Experience using common lab equipment such as DMM, Scopes, Logic Analyzers, etc.
- Experience with vendor management, performance management and resource planning
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience with ICT vendor management, performance management and resource planning
- BS/MS in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent military experience required

Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $109,000/yr to $177,000/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
