We are looking for a senior engineer to be part of the mixed-signal design team building next generation NVLINK. This position offers the opportunity to have real impact in a dynamic, technology-focused company impacting product lines ranging from consumer graphics to self-driving cars and the growing field of artificial intelligence. We are part of the global engineering team at NVIDIA that designs state-of-the-art GPUs for all applications, such as supercomputers, gaming consoles, and self-driving cars. Our team's focus is on the architecture and design of CMOS and Silicon-Photonics high-speed chip interfaces (NVLink, IEEE, PCIE, USB, OIF) and other complex photonic functions. You will have the opportunity to define product architectures, work on developing high-speed active and passive photonics components, and contribute to the development of the next-generation photonics program. You will be the key interface with stakeholders and leadership internally and externally. What you will be doing: Identify optical technologies, quantify their value and prioritize them for future datacenter usages. Recommend a product intercept strategy based on conducting comprehensive trade-off analysis of optical technology options. Propose Proof of Concept (POC) / prototyping frameworks for the rigorous evaluation of optical technologies. Engage with optical technology vendors and conduct detailed analysis of competing technologies. Supervise end-end design of next-generation optical systems Work with connector vendors, laser suppliers, and package teams What we need to see: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience) 8+ years of experience in the development of silicon photonics ICs from concept to high-volume manufacturing In-depth knowledge of photonic device physics, semiconductor laser, and device physics Extensive (8+ years) experience in in designing, simulating, and testing high-speed optical modulators for 50+Gbaud in Si, IIIV, and other material systems including micro-ring, Mach-Zehnder, and electro-absorption modulators Experience in architecting, designing, and taping out PICs; PIC test data analysis and design optimization Proven track record of ownership of integrated silicon photonics components. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary teams. Strong interpersonal skills and ability & desire to work as a great teammate are huge plus. The base salary range is 232,000 USD - 356,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
