Are you ready to lead with purpose in human resources? Join a team that makes a lasting impact on the lives of infants, toddlers, and adults with developmental disabilities. Bring your expertise to support a compassionate, mission-driven organization and help build a thriving work environment that supports both the team and the community it serves. Ready to inspire change? We’re waiting for you!

The Exceptional Children’s Foundation was formed by parents and community activists who sought to establish a day training program as an alternative to institutional care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Over the years, our services have expanded to meet the needs of our target population by developing and implementing early intervention programs for infants and toddlers and residential, work, and day programs for adults. In 2008, we added a K‐12 school and a comprehensive mental health program to our services. Now, we support approximately 4,000 children, adults, and their families at 15 service sites, clients’ homes, and community settings throughout L.A. County.

The ECF seeks dedicated professionals to join a team that transforms lives through high-quality services for individuals with special needs. We celebrate diversity, promote an inclusive culture, and offer a supportive environment where employees can grow and make a meaningful impact. Core values like “People First,” “Empowerment,” and “Service Excellence” guide ECF’s work.

We value our employees’ time and efforts. Our commitment to your success is enhanced by our competitive compensation of $105k-125k annually, depending on experience, and an extensive benefits package, including:

  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans for employees and dependents
  • 403(b) Retirement Savings with employer matching
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), including vacation, holidays, and sick leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for wellness support
  • Unique Perks such as discounts on artwork created by ECF artists and ECF-hosted events and activities

As a Human Resources (HR) Director, you will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, training, and staff of the Human Resources department, ensuring legal compliance and support of Exceptional Children’s Foundation’s mission, strategic plan, and talent strategy.

To succeed, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Director-level HR role, preferably in a similar organization; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR regulations.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean record, reliable transportation, and negative TB test (initial and every three years).
  • DOJ background clearance is required for employment.

Your responsibilities as the HR Director will include:

  • Manage core HR programs, including benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
