The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as the primary HR resource to leadership within a college and/or division. Acts as a trusted advisor to the management team for their assigned client groups, leads and influences workforce decisions related to talent management, succession planning, leadership, development, compensation, recruitment and retention, and employee relations. The primary work location for this position is the Boston, MA campus. This position currently operates under a hybrid model, requiring 3 days on campus and two days with a remote work option. The specific work schedule will depend upon the operational needs of the department, and the hybrid model is subject to change based on business needs and department and University policies and guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with client groups to provide consultation on a broad range of human resources and talent management activities including org design, staffing, employee and team development, coaching etc. Works with clients to help them meet their organizational needs and leverages other HR COE functions effectively.
  • Facilitates the prioritization, sequence and entry of Workday transactions and ServiceNow requests for support, including creating positions, creating/editing job profiles, completing offers, and advising managers on self-service tasks. Creates new process documentation, workflows, and guides for a variety of audiences.
  • Manages employee relations issues to ensure practices are consistent. (e.g., separation agreement strategies, progressive discipline strategies, etc.). Anticipates issues and proactively works with clients and HR colleagues to identify solutions. Ensures that actions follow University and HR policies as well as applicable state and federal employment and labor laws. Anticipates issues and formulates effective collaboration with University partners to inform decisions/action plans that minimize negative impacts.
  • Delivers HR programs and priorities within scope; collaborates with HR colleagues on common and core programs to provide consistency and continuous improvement to HR practices and programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least seven years of demonstrated professional HR practitioner experience within complex organizations required.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable state/federal employment laws, University/HR policies/processes, and talent management practices.
  • Ability to establish credibility, build relationships and act as a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Effective consultative and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to work with process and data to continuously improve service. Excellent oral, written, listening and interpersonal communications skills to exchange information in a clear, concise and tactful manner.
  • High level of initiative with the ability to organize and prioritize work and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective project and time management skills.
