The Role
The HR Generalist will be responsible for leading a variety of HR functions including onboarding, employee engagement, wellness, benefits, employee relations, recruiting, and payroll activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills, HR technical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating a positive and supportive workplace culture. This role reports directly to the Director of Employee Experience.
Key Day to Day Responsibilities
In this role, you are entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Recruitment: Recruiting administration of Applicant Tracking System and candidate screening.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act. Must be current on HR best practices and legal requirements, ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws.
- Employee Engagement: Create and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives to improve morale, job satisfaction, and retention.
- Employee Relations: Providing guidance and support on employee relations issues, such as conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Wellness: Partner with external vendors to coordinate wellness-related activities and resources; build a year-long calendar of events.
- Reporting: preparing and ensuring compliance with HR reporting including required Affordable Care Act reporting and Affirmative Action Plans to ensure equal employment opportunity.
- Benefits: Administering employee benefits programs, including enrollment, updates, and communication. Benefits include 401K, Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.
- HR policies: Developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Payroll: Running payroll duties using eFAACT (timesheets) and GovConPay (payroll).
- Labor relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with labor organizations, negotiating and administering labor agreements .
- HR Systems: Integration lead/support in new systems implementations.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role (preferably in a govcon company), with exposure to payroll, wellness, employee engagement, and event coordination.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of HR processes, payroll systems, and best practices.
- Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and payroll software. Experience with GovConPay/iSolved a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to HR challenges.
- Familiarity with government contracting and the specific HR compliance requirements within this industry is a plus.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is preferred.
