Summary

The HR Generalist performs many day-to-day functions of the HR Department including orientation, benefits, training, discipline, performance appraisals, research and recordkeeping functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all sensitive information
  • Record and manage employee information such as, but not limited to, personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance/wage reviews and termination information
  • Orientation of new hires
  • Setup of New Hire profiles in security, fuel and dealer operating systems.
  • Maintains and secures employee/DOT files
  • Notifies payroll and accounting of status changes
  • Assists other HR staff by gathering documents for discipline or terminations
  • Ensures mailing of COBRA and other post-termination notices
  • Gathers preliminary information and documents relating to accidents or injuries
  • Assist in administration and tracking of workers comp and FMLA
  • Assists in issue-specific training modules or workshops
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans, reviews various benefits with employees and processes enrollments
  • Creates and files reports as needed
  • Understands, keeps current on, and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting employment and benefits
  • Assists with the process and appeals of Unemployment claims
  • Process Verifications of Employment Requests
  • Responsible for I-9 Compliance and record retention
  • Consortium maintenance, notification to employees at dealership locations and record retention
  • Semi Annual processing of MVR’s for DOT compliance
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Travel will range from 5% to 30%

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of human resources generalist experience
  • HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Understand developments of best practices, policies and procedures and be able to assist in development as needed
  • Strong knowledge of hiring process, orientation, onboarding
  • Sound judgment and problem solving skills
  • Customer focused attitude with high level of professionalism and discretion, both verbally and in written communication
  • Excellent inter-personnel and communication skills a must
