Job Description
Our client is a mid-size law Firm in New York City
with a large and sophisticated team of attorneys and professionals. Our clients look to us to bring
a high degree of quality and creativity to resolve legal challenges effectively. The Firm is
seeking a talented and motivated Human Resources Generalist to join the HR team. As a full time employee, you will report to the Head of Human Resources, bringing strong Human
Resources knowledge, excellent detail-orientation, and a support service mindset to ensure that
processes and policies are aligned with HR strategic objectives and Firm goals.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following.
• Acts as a partner to Head of Human Resources and firm supervisors/managing partners by
providing strong administrative and process expertise (i.e. Recruitment, Performance
Management, LOA, Policy Changes, etc.)
• Direct ownership of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment efforts, supporting firm-wide talent
strategy by taking part in the needs assessment, interview screening process, draft offer
letters, and broad onboarding of new talent/hires.
• Develops a deep and thorough understanding of firm policies and provides advice on Human
Resources policies making best practice recommendations on changes to the Head of Human
Resources. Responsible for drafting policies for review and communicating policy changes
firm wide.
• Execute on and ensure successful implementation of process improvements agreed by Head
of Human Resources and Firm's Management Committee in various aspects of Human
Resources and
• Play an active role in the full employee life cycle from offer to exit (i.e., Benefits OE,
Performance Management, Talent Management, FMLA and other leaves).
• Work with Professional Employer Organization (“PEO”) on all benefit and Human
Resources related matters and providing guidance to staff on HR inquiries and needs.
• Prepare accurate reports and provide analysis of findings to management to support strategic
approach to improve or identify trends.
• Understand labor laws to appropriately support potential impact to day-to-day operations,
employee relations, and performance management.
• Stay abreast of labor laws and human resource system upgrades, with an eye to assist Head
of Human Resources with update and improvement to HR processes.
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of attorneys and non-attorney staff.
• Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. Master's degree or SHRM certification a plus.
• Minimum of five (5) years as Human Resources Generalist; previous law firm experience
preferred
• Strong knowledge of US labor laws
• Strong knowledge and understanding of employee relations, talent management, performance
management, benefits administration, FMLA and other leaves.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and employee systems. Specifically,
HRIS systems in connection with PEO systems; familiar with working with PEO a plus.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships firm wide.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to compile and analyze information in
different forums (i.e., excel, email or verbally).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; superb attention to detail,
as well as multi-tasking skills.
• Must be able to handle highly sensitive information and always maintain confidentiality.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and capable of working independently as well as in a
team.
• Must be flexible to ensure quick response to meet tight deadlines while handling multiple
tasks that require a high level of detail to perform essential functions.
• May be required to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week
