Mohawk Auto Group is looking for a Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for partnering within the HR department to perform and enhance HR operational functions and strategic initiatives, and supporting management across the organization. The Sr. HR Generalist assists with recruitment, pre-hire and new hire procedures, and manages Employee Leave and Benefits Administration.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Benefits Administration: assist in the review and selection of company plans, partner with insurance brokers to launch open enrollment, answer employee questions and handle problems related to all benefits
  • Maintain employer portals for medical, dental and vision insurance, issue new cards and research coverage issues
  • Contact employees newly eligible for 401(k) and answer questions
  • Monitor participant changes/contributions via ADP and Voya file platforms
  • Leave Administration; partner with outsourced leave vendor for FMLA, NYSPFL, and NYSDBL
  • Maintain employee and Company confidentiality regarding all aspects of benefits and 401(k) administration
  • Understand and have working knowledge of all HR operational functions
  • Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages and employer-paid benefits
  • Ensure Company compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Assist with annual EEO and other required reporting
  • Assist with employee relations and performance management
  • Provides ADP technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to all employees
  • Coordinate with new hire team for onboarding, training, and apparel needs
  • Maintain HR intranet
  • Assist HR department with policies & procedures
  • Provide coverage across HR department
  • Other tasks as assigned

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Experience in Benefits and Leave Administration
  • Experience in Workers Compensation administration
  • Experience with ADP preferred, MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • A minimum of five years of human resource management experience.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR or SHRM-SCP highly desired
