Description
ESC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and manage financial reporting, compliance, and operational accounting processes for our premier client's music and podcast divisions. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong understanding of entertainment accounting, royalties, and subscription-based revenue models. The Accounting Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The position starts as a 4-month contract opportunity working onsite in San Francisco.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies (GAAP/IFRS) and company standards.
• Partner with the global finance team to manage intercompany transactions and consolidations.
• Manage audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors.
Revenue and Cost Accounting:
• Lead revenue recognition processes for subscription services, ad-supported platforms, and licensing deals.
• Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of royalties for artists, podcasters, and other stakeholders.
• Track and reconcile content acquisition costs, development expenses, and other operational costs.
Operational Accounting:
• Develop and maintain processes for tracking podcast and music content monetization.
• Analyze and reconcile data from internal systems like SAP, Oracle, and Tableau.
• Collaborate with rights management, marketing, and legal teams on contract terms impacting financials.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the entertainment, media, or tech industries.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analysis tools like Excel and Tableau.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of people with varying skillsets.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with subscription and advertising revenue models.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MBA or Master's in Accounting/Finance.
• Familiarity with podcast and music royalty accounting.
• Experience in digital advertising/agency background.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
