Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our firm. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support decision-making processes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets.
Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and variance analysis.
Accounting Operations:
Supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting team (3 direct reports and 2 indirect).
Manage general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
Implement best practices to streamline accounting procedures.
Audit Preparation:
Coordinate and manage external audits.
Prepare audit schedules and support documentation.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and support business initiatives.
Collaborate with the finance team to drive strategic financial planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is a plus.
Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to take the next step, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
