We are looking for a Accounting Managerto join our team! This is an opportunity to help build an accounting function from the ground up, including implementing processes and best practices and making key decisions for the direction of the accounting org. A strong performer could quickly move into a controller role.
Grata is a hybrid company, which means our employees work from our NY office (near Bryant Park) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
At Grata, we will expect you to:
- Implement, improve, and lead the month-end close (MEC) process including reconciling accounts and booking journal entries as needed as we progress towards audit-ready financials.
- Lead and scale the corporate accounting functions, including technical accounting and financial reporting.
- Oversee the development and adoption of accounting policies and processes to ensure that Grata complies with evolving accounting standards and regulations, such as US GAAP and local and international regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the technical accounting expert and trusted advisor to senior management maintaining current knowledge of GAAP, relevant regulations and industry trends providing guidance, planning and direction related to all accounting matters, including but not limited to.
- Revenue accounting (ASC 606)
- Lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Prepaid and accrual accounting
- Consolidation and inter-company
- Work with and direct outside advisors on tax compliance, including income and sales & use tax.
- Form a key part of the finance team responsible for investor and parent company reporting together with the VP of Finance.
- Target experience:
- 6+ years of total accounting experience
- 2+ years of public accounting experience in an advisory role such as audit or tax.
- 2+ years of experience in corporate accounting.
- 1+ years of experience in a managerial role preferred.
- Undergraduate or Masters degree in accounting or a related field.
- Demonstrated familiarity and experience with general ledger accounting and the record-to-report (R2R) process.
- Experience with leading all or part of month-end close (MEC).
- Familiarity with technical accounting concepts and comfortable providing advice to non-accountants.
- Familiarity with ERPs such as Netsuite, Quickbooks, or Workday.
- Excited to help build an accounting function from the ground up.
- International accounting and/or consolidation experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with tax, including corporate income and sales & use tax (SUT) is a plus.

The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role's scope and complexity, and the candidate's experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in New York City, the estimated base salary for this role is $130k - $150k per year.
