Job Description

The Accounting Manager will provide day-to-day management and oversight of Accounting and Finance functions. Reporting to the Sr. Corporate Controller, this hands-on position will be responsible for general ledger accounting and financial reporting, and the review of the work of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have experience with process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month and year-end close process for multiple legal entities, including preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare internal reports for senior management monthly. Assist with the preparation of key performance indicators reporting monthly.
  • Assist in preparing individual legal entity and consolidated financial statements on a monthly basis.
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships including line of credit movements, reconciling checking and credit accounts, and initiate needed strategies for improvement.
  • Manage Accounts Receivables including timely/accurate invoicing, posting cash and follow-up with customers to insure payment within terms.
  • Conduct and oversee work in process (WIP) accounting functions such as job cost reports and analysis, draw billing requests and job compliance.
  • Oversee payroll to ensure that all local and federal rules are followed and in compliance. Audits payroll for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Direct and coordinate Accounts Payable to ensure that all charges are posted to the correct accounts. Assure vendors are paid at maximum terms taking advantage of all discounts.
  • Ensure that adequate systems and procedures are in place and being followed. Assist in design of systems as needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Sound knowledge of accounting systems and accounting software.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills necessary for daily interaction with staff and management across the business.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment as both a leader and a contributor.
  • Excellent analytical skills applied to a broad range of business and industry issues.
  • The candidate should have experience demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to lead change initiatives and process improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business Management.
  • Construction accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Viewpoint by Vista is a plus
