Summary/Objective:
Supervises and assists with the month-end close process, booking journal entries and reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts. This position will also assist with monthly reporting requirements, assist with treasury and banking relationships, the external financial tax filings, continuous process improvements, and special projects as needed.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours may be required due to business needs.
Supervises and assists with the month-end close process, booking journal entries and reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts. This position will also assist with monthly reporting requirements, assist with treasury and banking relationships, the external financial tax filings, continuous process improvements, and special projects as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Takes ownership of the monthly accounting close process, including preparation and booking of journal entries, and ensuring the general ledger is complete, materially accurate, and closed timely and in accordance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensures company financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in compliance with policies and procedure
- Supervises the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring accounts are reconciled timely, reconciling items are addressed timely, and reconciliations are updated as efficiencies and improvements are identified.
- Takes ownership of treasury and banking functions to open new accounts, maintain and transfer funds as needed.
- Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices and maintain accurate financial records and control reports.
- Assists third party outsourced companies with the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual Federal and State tax reporting requirements.
- Assists with other monthly /quarterly reporting requirements.
- Assists with the preparation and updates of policies and procedures.
- Identifies and resolves process / system inefficiencies and drives process improvements.
- Works cross-functionally with other areas of the business as needed.
- Works on additional assignments and projects as needed.
- Maintains behaviors and actions consistent with the company's values and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience using Sage Intacct ERP.
- 1 year of external / financial auditing experience.
- 2 -3 years of management experience.
- 3 years of accounting / general ledger experience.
- 3 years of month-end close experience at a mid-size company.
- 3 years of experience performing balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prior experience managing 4 - 5 accountants.
- Prior supervision experience.
- MBA in accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- 2 years of Experience using Sage Intacct.
- 1 year of external / financial auditing experience.
- 5 years of accounting / general ledger experience.
- 5 years of month-end close experience at a mid-size company.
- 5 years of experience performing balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Experience with Lease Accounting.
- Experience in multi-unit retail / restaurant industry.
