What the Role Is
The Philadelphia Distilling Bartender will be responsible for creating a memorable and unique experience within our tasting room and for flawless operation of the bar. The Bartender will be responsible for entertaining & educating guests, providing efficient beverage service and maintaining the bar’s cleanliness and overall appearance.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through education and bar menu selections, maintaining a positive guest/customer relation
- Develop and maintain complete knowledge of all Philadelphia Distilling products, especially the gin portfolio
- Knowledgeable of and able to execute most up to date mixology methods, a wide variety of drink recipes, garnishes for drinks, preparation methods/times of drinks, ingredients necessary, portion sizes, presentation and prices
- Develop bar offerings, such as cocktails, flights and snacks and ensure an efficient work pace to maintain guest satisfaction
- Maintain highest health standards, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
- Ensure all service items such as menus, etc. are cleaned, in good condition and replaced as required
- Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and driving while under the influence
- Role will report to Beverage Manager and General Manager
- Participate in continuous training and educational opportunities to further develop brand advocacy concepts
Who You Are…
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in bartending
- RAMP certified or willingness to attain RAMP certification within 90 days
- Proven knowledge of spirits and experience with cocktail making
- Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people
- Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to talk to others to convey information effectively
- Ability to work in a team and be a self-starter
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends is required
- Ability to work in fast paced, high volume settings
Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is frequently required to speak, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
Philadelphia Distilling has a 100-seat tasting room, an 80-seat enclosed patio, and a 65-seat 4th floor private events space. We run a regular bar service Thursday-Sunday, often with concurrent private events. We host a number of full-buyout corporate events and Weddings in addition to our smaller events.
Opened in 2005, Philadelphia Distilling is the first craft distillery built in Pennsylvania since the Prohibition era.
