Overview of Position:
This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining the master production schedule to smooth customer demand. It is expected that the Production Planner will coordinate with production on a daily basis to make sure lead-times, on-time delivery (OTD) and customer demand is met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, publishes, and maintains the Master Production Schedule, balancing inventory, resources, and capacity.
- Troubleshoot problems with production scheduling and consumable variance.
- Review sales forecast and shipment history to develop a production schedule/plan per product line that meets revenue needs and limits inventory risks.
- Identify risks associated with the schedule/plan to include consideration for expedites drop-ins, sales history and inventory levels.
- Works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Customer Service to execute the operating plan.
- Effectively smooth customer demand to level load production for each department.
- Responsible for clear communication of master and machine level schedules to the production work centers.
- Executes scheduling and job releases to each department.
- Clearly communicates customer demands to Supply Chain to ensure the timely supply of required manufacturing materials and supplies.
- Work with other departments to ensure released jobs are moving according to schedule to meet on time delivery and works with Customer Service to ensure accuracy of orders entered and to accommodate schedule change requests.
- Work with operations team to drive solutions to constraints that affect the master schedule and achieving OTD goals.
- Creates new scheduling work procedures as needed and reviews/updates existing work procedures on an ongoing basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirement:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years of direct scheduling experience with and without MRP systems preferred.
- Experience in service industry is a plus.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate and interface well with others.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Committed, dedicated and self-motivated working ethics, with full ownership of projects and assigned tasks.
- The desire to strive for continuous improvement and excellence within a fast-paced growth environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, production processes and quality control.
- Time management: Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, is necessary.
- The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner is necessary.
- The ability to make independent decisions related to scheduling.
- The ability to communicate with external customers.
This job equally operates in a production and professional office environment. The environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts or equipment. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication and may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends and possibly holidays. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak, hear, and smell. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear as well as interact with other employees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the incumbent must be able to sit/stand and use a computer for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000 - $95,000 per year
