Job Summary:
The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for the full cycle of recruiting which includes finding talent, attending job fairs/events, maintaining a qualified pool of candidates, and advertising job openings on viable platforms/job events. This position will be collaborating with our hiring managers in the interview process to successfully hire employees that fit our culture and skill requirements, and ensure new hires have a stellar onboarding experience.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Recruits for all staffing needs. This includes finding talent that fits our company culture and desired skills, advertising job openings across multiple channels, attending job fairs, (local & out of state) and other events to attract candidates.
- Building and maintaining a talent bank that identifies top candidates.
- Presents a professional and positive impression of Valley Christian Schools as it aligns with our beliefs, mission, and culture.
- Conducts preliminary interviews and collaborates with hiring managers to select the candidate(s) that best fit Valley Christian Schools.
- Collaborates with the HR Specialist in conducting new hire 1st day and annual staff orientation for new hires.
- Oversee the Student Teacher Internship program & process.
- Creates and manages job descriptions.
- Supports the HR Specialist with hiring needs when the HR Specialist is out of the office and during heavy hiring seasons.
- Responds to and resolve employee inquiries/concerns within the scope of the responsibilities.
- Has awareness of labor and employment laws and hiring practices and is willing to reference, research, and attend continuing education in HR matters.
- Adheres to Valley Christian School policies, procedures/processes, codes, and The Valley Way.
- Maintains confidentiality of HR matters and high-level company information.
- Performs other related assigned duties.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a Christian with a consistent testimony among his/her family, peers, and students and uphold VCS Statement of Faith, values, and beliefs.
- Must be able to demonstrate a good fit for the culture at Valley Christian Schools.
- Must be able to work 25 hours/week except during holidays and school breaks.
- Supports workplace diversity.
- Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card to work in a school environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must have excellent presentation, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Savvy with social media used for recruiting and Zoom and Teams apps.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle time sensitive tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, analytical and critical thinking skills, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed. Some evenings may be required for recruiting events.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in recruiting.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.
- Experience in recruiting employees or related subject
- Knowledge working in a school environment.
- Experience using a recruiting platform.
- Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time.
- Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story).
- Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms).
- Work in a noisy and crowded school environment.
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed.
- Frequent walking throughout the campus.
- Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events.
Salary Description
$30 - $35 per hour, DOE
