General Summary
The manufacturing lead is an expert in manufacturing activities required to process and package materials into finished goods. This position is required to troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the production process in advance to eliminate bottlenecks or slowdowns in manufacturing. Directing and supervising day to day manufacturing operations, includes motivating and leading team members to focus on working smarter and more efficiently in the execution of projects.
Education, Experience & Certifications
- 15 years of Industry experience
- 10 years of managerial experience in skidded/modular package manufacturing
- An in-depth understanding of fabrication and fabrication workflows
- Full understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Must be able to interpret / read engineering drawings (P&ID’s, GA’s, isometrics, piping plans, and structural drawings)
- Must be familiar with and able to manage ASME and ISO 9001 requirements regarding materials, fabrication, assembly, and test procedures (e.g., hydrotest, FAT, etc.).
- Must be organized, schedule-driven, while able to maintain a safe work environment and high-quality standards.
- Must have skills in conflict resolution, business-like communication, be solutions-minded, have an easy-going personality, professional demeanor, the ability to make tough decision, be able to accept responsibility for your actions and the actions of personnel assigned to you.
- High School Graduate or GED
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for manufacturing work of personnel assigned to you (to include fabrication, assembly, blast & paint, and any 3rd party services required) to meet the specifications and reequipments of finished goods orders.
- Confirm that finished products meet or exceed industry standards and CAM Pro quality requirements have been met, before they are declared ready for use.
- Oversee the evaluation of prospective employees to ensure they are capable of completing the work they would be hired to do.
- Conduct production meetings to ensure all areas of manufacturing has the most up to date information.
- Proactively manage direct job costs and operational overhead costs of team members.
- Manage the hiring, onboarding, and immediate work performance of new hires to assure their skills, work ethics, and production rates are what was expected. Address any issues / concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of operational budgets, KPI’s, team members operational status, and make them available to management for evaluation.
- Keep records of team members performances, training, and certifications.
- Assign tasks to team members and provide them specific directions/information, procedures, and the sufficient resources required for them to carry out those assigned tasks.
- Monitor team members in the course of their work to ensure that they comply with company standards of operations and are working as effective as possible.
- Manage all manufacturing projects to ensure production safety, quality, and efficiency are always at optimal performance.
- Showcase knowledge and skills to the team members, giving them direction to go about their tasks and duties on the job.
- Demonstrate to his/her team members practical ways to execute difficult tasks so they have a clear direction of how to tackle such tasks on their own in the future.
- Recognize the contributions of every team member and encourages them to work together in harmony, sharing ideas and maintaining good relationships in the execution of production tasks.
- Place the safety of the team members in high esteem and educates them on safety tips and procedures to adhere to during manufacturing process.
- Enlighten the team on how to handle emergencies that may arise in the course of work, and ensures that the manufacturing site is free of any form of danger, and is safe for team members to do their job.
- Ensures that all workers have protective gear and clothing before going to site to work to safeguard themselves against production hazards
- Monitor team members on site during production activities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety procedures.
- Provide feedback to Technical Support for issues regarding estimates, specifications, drawings, and schedule.
- Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality.
- Ensure that products and goods manufactured meet quality standards obtainable in the industry.
- Motivate team members to enhance production quantity, while also maintaining high production standards.
- Establish a weekly work schedule for team members and ensure that they strictly adhere to it; take attendance to ensure regularity and promptness of team members to duty.
- Ensure that work materials, equipment, and personnel are present when needed.
- Maintain a healthy line of communication between team members and management.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and managing a production schedule to ensure a timely execution of projects.
- Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).
- Create manufacturing reports and present to management as required.
- Direct corrections (corrective actions) of any manufacturing issues that arise; and work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
