The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes. This leader develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Responsibilities
  • Implements and maintains engineering objectives and initiatives
  • Devises short and long term capital investment strategy
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Supports production in reducing / eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologies
  • Create and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures and Line Balance documentation
  • Shares best practices solutions with other Masonite sites
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; tests finished- product and process capabilities; establishes standards; confirms manufacturing processes
  • Maintains error-proofing methodologies and shop floor layout enhancements and update master CAD layouts
  • Supports department or maintenance projects / activities with good engineering direction
  • Facilitates process/continued improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Cost estimates and documents all engineering changes
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
  • Follows through with outside contractors and vendors to ensure that installation of new equipment, repairs existing equipment and any and all work performed is satisfactory before the contractor or vendor is released from liability
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Assists in the implementation of capital and related improvements operating projects


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Must have an understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting as well as TPM program experience
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and technology equipment
  • Ability to perform capacity studies, analysis and process improvements
  • PC proficiency including MS Office; AutoCAD proficiency
  • Ability to take initiative on a wide range of project activities and situations
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in written form
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of project personnel and to work effectively in a diverse workforce
  • Experienced and demonstrated ability to engage cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage workload with flexibility and close attention to detail
  • Experience with implementing and managing capital projects desired
  • Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic


Qualifications
  • 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering position
  • Project management experience required
  • Lean Manufacturing certification desired
