We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team in North Aurora, IL. Our North Aurora facility is a leading manufacturer of end-suction, split case, jockey, and vertical turbine pumps used in commercial HVAC and fire suppression systems. You will partner with the site manufacturing team and floor associates to support and improve manufacturing operations and lead projects to develop and introduce new processes and products to the manufacturing operation. You will:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and implement multiple manufacturing systems and processes utilizing sound manufacturing engineering fundamentals, lean, and technology.
- Develop, assemble, procure, or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the introduction of new products and processes by coordinating the related aspects such as quality, tooling, layouts, and processes.
- Design tooling, fixturing, and processes to improve production methods to reduce costs or improve lead time on existing products.
- Program and troubleshoot production machines, including automated balancing equipment, vertical and horizontal mills, dual spindle horizontal lathes, and vertical lathes.
- Collaborate with the EHS Manager to ensure all existing and new manufacturing processes adhere to safety guidelines.
- Coordinate with maintenance manager to support machine repair and troubleshooting.
- Assist with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment, and process revisions.
Key Qualifications:
- Have earned a bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering technology, or another technical field. A degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Have 5+ years of relevant professional experience, which will include time specifically as a Manufacturing Engineer.
- Strong working knowledge and ability to read, modify, and develop turning and milling CNC programs.
- Background in manufacturing process improvement, CNC machining, assembly, automation, project management and new equipment implementation, preferably in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Functional skills and capability in CAD/CAM systems (AAA preferred).
- Strong problem solving and process troubleshooting capability. (RCCM, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
- Basic technical fundamentals - engineering drawing and specification interpretation, tool and fixture design, gauge design, GD&T, equipment design, and process documentation.
