Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer. This position is located in our West Jordan, UT location and reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer II will plan, develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods and processes for new and existing products, ensuring efficient use of materials, equipment, and personnel to produce quality products at minimum cost. With limited supervision, this role determines optimal manufacturing methods for complex programs and oversees products from initial setup through production, ensuring compliance with customer, government, and company requirements. Essential Functions: Collaborate daily with Manufacturing and Program Managers to maintain clear communication and provide program/task updates. Review, interpret, and apply contract and engineering specifications to ensure alignment with project and production requirements. Develop EBOMs, MBOMs, work instructions, travelers, process specifications, and material selections to support and control production processes. Create documentation to support part fabrication, manufacturing, and quality. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance quality, reduce cycle times, and lower costs. Contribute to design concepts for part and tool fabrication. Support Program/Engineering management in resolving technical issues and liaise with customer engineering and suppliers as needed. Perform red-lining on shop floor parts, implement engineering changes, and address MRB conditions with corrective actions. Ensure all safety regulations are followed and maintain a safe, organized workspace in line with the company's FOD program. Estimate staffing, production time, and costs to aid in operational decision-making. Coordinate with other manufacturing departments to develop and implement relevant training for employees. Non-Essential Functions: Other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Composite Expertise: Minimum 5 years in composite manufacturing engineering with experience in materials and processes, including wet-layup, autoclave, RTM, and compression molding, and at least 1 year in composite part fabrication, machining, bonding, and assembly. Quality & Compliance: Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems; able to adhere to corporate Quality Management Systems daily. Mechanical Skills & Inspection: Proficient in assembling/disassembling parts and assemblies; experienced with contact and noncontact inspection methods and data acquisition systems to monitor temperature, vacuum, and pressure. Project & Task Management: Skilled in handling multiple programs with changing priorities, setting goals, and following tasks through to completion; experience in preparing bids and proposals. Analytical & Organizational Strengths: Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and accurate, with strong job costing knowledge and proposal generation abilities. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills to collaborate effectively across departments. Technical Proficiency: Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering (aerospace preferred); skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD/CAM software, particularly SolidWorks; adept at blueprint reading, CAD model interrogation, and GD&T.
