- Position Purpose
- Under the direct supervision of the Custodial Supervisor or designee, will perform custodial operations and ensure building safety protocol, facilities cleanliness and maintenance. Assists with development of cleaning procedures. Assists with building cleaning maintenance as required. Maintains inventory and monitors stock and usage. Monitors, performs and provides recommendations for preventative maintenance to buildings and custodial equipment and tools. Provides customer service to College departments, staff, students, representatives, partners and to the public. Must adhere to Ohio, OSHA and institutional safety standards and procedures and State, Federal and institutional policies; Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform custodial tasks: Remove trash including recycling bins; wash and disinfect trash and recycling containers; dust/clean whiteboards, trays, erasers; sweep and/or shampoo carpets; clean windows and light fixtures/lenses; mop/wax/strip and maintain tile floors and base coves; clean/shine and maintain stainless steel fixtures, hardware and kick plates; clean and maintain classroom fixtures and furniture; clean/maintain/disinfect classroom sinks, faucets, eye wash and emergency shower stations; wash walls, clean, prep, clean/disinfect/shine water fountains; clean/disinfect and maintain restrooms; vacuum/shampoo furniture; wash mirrors; clean and maintain window ledges, glass, blinds or curtains; empty pencil sharpeners; clean and refill soap, toilet paper and towel dispensers; clean air vents on wall or ceiling; clean elevator walls, floor and light fixtures; clean/maintain tables and floors in dining area; wash/sweep/replace floor mats; sweep/mop/wax steps and stairwells; clean, disinfect, clean food receptacles, condiment tables, microwaves in dining area; clean and disinfect mold in rooms or ceiling tile; change batteries in restroom fixtures; change batteries in classroom fixtures; maintain accurate time on building clocks and change batteries.
- Assist with special event arrangements.
- Engage in professional development activities as needed.
- Cleans exterior trash containers, building entryways and patios, including snow removal.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and MSDS sheets.
- Operate cleaning equipment and handle materials properly and safely.
- Must be able to exert physical effort while performing manual labor including standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, lifting, stretching, bending, kneeling, and manual dexterity. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Follow safety requirements for use of ladders or lifts to clean windows or high ledge dusting.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to protective clothing, equipment, goggles, gloves, and boots.
- Plan, prioritize, and complete work in most efficient way while working in accordance with all city, state, and federal codes.
- Perform general clean-up and organization of work area (SCORE- Safety, Cleanliness, Organization, Responsiveness, and Efficiency).
- Provide customer service to College departments, staff, students, representatives and partners and to the public.
- Works indoor, outdoor, in inclement weather, at special events, on campus, multiple campus locations, and off campus locations.
- Follow all Hocking College policies and procedures in relation to all duties performed.
- Work with student employees in the successful daily operations of the institution.
- Perform and complete other related work as assigned.
- Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills
- H.S. graduate or GED
- Previous or related custodial experience
