The Custodian for The Rock County Salvation Army performs janitorial, maintenance, and driving duties to support the Corps building and programs.
About the role:
- Performs daily cleaning tasks at community center to include sweeping and mopping all tile floors, spot cleaning bathrooms and supplying with toilet paper and paper towels, and trash removal throughout the building, including offices. Thoroughly cleans bathrooms and vacuums all carpeting as needed. Regularly cleans windows and glass doors.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Performs general landscaping duties at the community center to include mowing lawn, trimming hedges, pulling weeds, and watering plants, flowers, and grass.
- Removes snow from sidewalks, walkways, and parking lots and salts as needed. Ensures salt is available near entryways for use by evening programs.
- Setup for various functions of the congregation, groups, committees, boards, as needed - including regularly scheduled events, dinners, special events, and meetings. Ensure take down of same events is completed.
- Ensure donations received at the office are moved to designated locations.
- Performs daily checks of major appliances to assure they are all in good working order. Changes light bulbs as needed. Checks on reported malfunctions of appliances, equipment, plumbing, and electricity, heating and cooling at the community center; makes minor repairs if possible. If necessary, promptly contacts appropriate vendor to make repairs as directed by Corps Officer
- Schedules regular maintenance of Corps vehicles to include regular oil changes and other required annual or semi-annual routine maintenance. Provides for other vehicle repairs as needed. Ensures company vehicles are adequately fueled and cleaned and washed regularly.
- Schedules annual maintenance and necessary repairs on facility heating and air conditioning units, lawn mower and snow blower.
- Keeps garages, storage sheds and other storage areas clean and organized for their intended purpose.
- Picks up Mobile Pantry and other locally donated food items. Assists the Rock County Driver in unloading commodities and other deliveries. May need to pick up commodities and/or other donated food in the absence of the Rock Co. Driver.
- Performs specific pickup and delivery tasks to support seasonal events such as Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, Red Kettle Campaign, and the Christmas and Thanksgiving programs.
Certifications: Valid driver's license and be an approved driver from TSA's insurance carrier.
Experience: Minimum six months or more custodial or related experience. Minimum one year facility maintenance experience.
