Reports To: Director of District Services

Terms: 260 days; 8 hours per day; 2:30pm - 11:00pm

Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma.
  2. Ability to do physical labor; including lifting supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  3. 1-2 years of experience preferred
  4. Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment employed in large scale cleaning.
  5. Acceptable BCII and FBI Backgt ound Checks.


General Duty Statement:

Provide a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and community. Responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in school buildings and property. Perform general custodial duties- i.e. emptying trash, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waxing (when applicable). Custodians will also be responsible for set up and tear down of school and non-school events, assisting wherever needed during such events. Custodians must be able to work collaboratively with other team members, as well as, independently in their assigned areas. Adjust to various locations and work requirements as needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Clean the assigned areas of the building as instructed, performing such activities as: changing trash, sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting surfaces, scrubbing, stripping floors, shampooing carpets, waxing
  • Perform duties that are particular to the assigned building and shift; for example, prepare, clean and reorganize the lunchroom, or clean the locker rooms and gymnasium
  • Ensure the care, condition, appearance, repair or replacement of all physical equipment, building, facilities, and grounds
  • Assist with the preparation and clean-up related to school or community extended-day activities, for example helping with set up tear down and clean-up of equipment and furniture for special events and community functions
  • Promote good safety practices and procedures. Check building to assure maximum security (walking building after school hours and secures doors, windows, security gates and other entrances)
  • Dispose of debris and maintain custodial equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner
  • Report to building administration and or custodial director any damaged, broken, loose fixtures and/or equipment
  • Perform seasonal duties such as salting and snow removal, litter removal, and other duties as directed by the building administration and custodial director
  • Attend meetings, complete online training, and in-services as required. Maintain records as requested by the Director of Operations
  • Assist other members of the facilities department as needed
  • Snow removal and emergency overtime as needed
