Summary

The Fork Lift Operator reports to the LOGISTEED-America, Inc. Operation Supervisor.

This role will primarily require the ability to perform an array of functions that may include with the use of manual and/or motorized power equipment receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse including but not limited to:

  • The successful candidate in this position will possess skills and experience which include knowledge of warehouse logistics, forklift operations, industrial power equipment operations and basic office and customer service skills.
  • This position requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task along with the knowledge to produce accurate workflow in a fast-paced, high-pressure freight forwarding operations and warehouse environment while positively contributing to the success of the team.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by established target inventory discrepancy ratio
  • Safely store freight and product in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Identify, document and immediately report damage to freight, product, vehicles or facilities to management and/or supervision
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Read and comprehend SOP’s, work instructions, email and documents; measure and count accurately; write legibly
  • Follow established procedures and meet or exceed safety, quality and productivity standards
  • Making sure to process paperwork, handle the items correctly when load/unload the items from containers and trailers.
  • Ability to use scan guns.

Essential Functions

OPERATIONS

  • Meets attendance & punctuality standards
  • Read and comprehend SOP’s, work instructions, and documents; measure and count accurately; write legibly
  • Follow established procedures and meet or exceed safety, quality and productivity standards
  • Safely load / unload trucks, trailers and ocean containers
  • Identify, document and immediately report damage to freight, product, vehicles or facilities to management and/or supervision
  • Accurately weigh, measure and document export freight shipments
  • Safely store freight and product in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Accurate inventory control and cycle counting if part of Inventory Team
  • Inspect and re-package freight and individual parts per customer specifications
  • Continuously review condition of work areas and suggest / implement corrective actions and improvements
  • Retrieve bill of ladings, shippers and master labels from the trailer and verify parts match
  • Ability to identify, document, and report damage to parts and trailers to supervision
  • Ability to work in fast paced warehouse environment around moving powered industrial equipment
  • Coordinate with Office Clerk to dock trailers, unload shipments, and ship products by loading trucks.
  • Sort offloaded materials, package them onto secure pallets, lift them onto racks, and document their warehouse locations
  • Re-stock inventory manually or with warehouse equipment
  • Re-ensure orders are properly wrapped/packed/processed before loading onto trucks
  • Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
  • Re-package, re-palletize, crate and uncrate freight as directed
  • Accurately and efficiently pick and pull orders
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders and processes.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Ability to use radio (if applicable) to coordinate trailer movements with switcher to designated docks
  • Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner

SAFETY

  • Performing tasks safely
  • Ensuring area housekeeping requirements are met
  • Abiding by all Federal. State, Local safety regulations and OSHA rules and LOGISTEED-America, Inc. safety practices
  • Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment around moving powered industrial equipment, trucks, vehicles and pedestrians
  • Maintain a safe, secure, clean and orderly warehouse
  • Conduct and document daily forklift checks, safety checks and inspections
  • Safely operate forklifts and other types of materials handling equipment

TRAINING

  • Assisted in onboarding, training, and mentoring new warehouse forklift drivers on pallet jacks, and counterbalanced forklift trucks.
  • Participate in application of LUS policies and procedures including but not limited Attendance and Punctuality policy, progressive corrective action, and other.

COLLABORATION

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months continuous work experience
  • Warehouse/Distribution/Manufacturing/Logistics work experience
  • Previous experience using Industrial Power Equipment, including Fork Lift, Pallet Jacks, Lifts, etc. preferred

Education and Certifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel - preferred
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Two plus years of verifiable experience safely operating sit-down and stand-up forklift preferred and/or the ability to become certified

Experience Requirements and Preferences

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goal of the warehouse
  • Experience handling oversize / heavy freight (5,000 lbs. – 20,000 lbs.) is a plus
  • Must be able to read and comprehend, write legibly and count accurately
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of 5S and Lean Concepts
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) is a plus
  • Ability to input and retrieve computer/technical/scanner data are a must
  • Ability to respond to situations in a prompt and professional manner
  • Fluency in English
  • Must pass drug and criminal background check

2nd Shift hours - 3:30pm - Midnight - pay rate $19.95/hour

Temp to hire.
Full Time Position - scheduled for 40 hours week. Overtime.
